When this arrived in the mail, the first thought that came to mind was that this wasn't a watch, it was jewelry for men. But that's what watches have become, right? If you wanted to know the time you'd look at your cellphone/armitron. Not so much an approval of conspicious spending as an observation.
The face is clean minimalistic and catches the eye, but since it isn't recessed like some watches, it smudges easily (a quick wipe with the shirt cuff fixes it right up). I was worried about the black face and my penchant for wearing a lot of blue and brown suits. I was right. If you wear a lot of brown--and you're picky about matching in formal situations--you should probably have a white/silver faced watch instead/as well.
The band is fantastic and--in my opinion-superior to leather bands. It doesn't catch my arm hair like some metal bands, and the two large sections on either side of the face offer the flexibility I like. there are plenty of smaller sections on the back to be removed and fit even the smallest of men's wrists.
It weighs exactly as I hoped it would: a little heft from the quality but not so much as to be a burden.
The only downside to this watch is that it is a too flashy for my most casual ocassions, so expect to purchase a second around-the-house or -grill watch.
I highly recommend this watch, but Amazon's price can be beat if you do some research.
Oh, and it keeps time.
