Adding extra elegance along with the added benefit of split second timing, this chronograph can time events down to 1/10 of a second and it includes three round subdials that display minutes, seconds, and tenths of seconds. Also befitting its more sporty orientation, the wavy blue dial is complemented by luminous bar hour markers, small minute indexes, and a date window at 4 o'clock. It features oversized luminous hands and a red seconds hand with a luminous dot at its base. Finally, it includes silver-tone tachymeter readings around the outer edge of the dial, which can be used for measuring time over distance. This precisely timed watch has a Swiss-made quartz movement, which is accurate to 60 seconds per year.
Other features include a sapphire glass crystal for optimal scratch resistance, screw down crown for maximum protection, and water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet)--which will stand up to the rigors of recreational scuba diving. It's completed by a handsome stainless steel bracelet band, which includes a fold over safety bar at the clasp for added security while participating in active pursuits.
How to Use a Tachymeter
A tachymeter is an instrument for measuring speed. It is a chronograph with a graduated dial on which speed can be read off in kilometers per hour based on 1000 meters distance. For example, the chronograph indicates that the distance of one kilometer has been covered in 30 seconds. The corresponding point on the tachymeter scale indicates 120, and thus the speed is 120km per hour.

I pondered the purchase of this watch for the last couple of months and I thought Amazon had a competitive price...while I was shopping at Sam's Club in Plano, Texas a couple of days ago, I saw it and bought for an unbelievable price of $599.00...so I am confused how could Amazon sell it for $1,600....The watch is awesome looking and heavy...it feels expensive.

I agree with OmegaMan's review that this is truly an excellent watch, for all the reasons described in that review. Aesthetically, it is quite beautiful. I would add that the watch has another interesting, unusual and helpful feature: when the crown is pulled out to the first click to change the date, instead of simply moving the date wheel to the proper date, turning the crown moves the hour hand through all of the hours until the date changes. This means that when traveling between time zones one can utilize this feature to adjust by simply moving the hour hand. I have found this to be a terrific featrue of this watch. I note that this is a very heavy watch (at least for me), so I would urge anyone who is thinking of buying it to try it on in a store to make sure that it is not too heavy for you.

I have had this model for a year now and just love it! Movado spared no expense in building this watch. It is very durable using high quality materials. The time keeping quartz movement is of course perfect. I would highly recommend this timepeice to any man looking for a full size watch. It is one of my favorite watches in my collection.
