Adding extra elegance along with the added benefit of split second timing, this chronograph can time events down to 1/10 of a second and it includes three round subdials that display minutes, seconds, and tenths of seconds. Also befitting its more sporty orientation, the wavy red dial is complemented by luminous bar hour markers, small minute indexes, and a date window at 4 o'clock. It features oversized luminous hands and a red seconds hand with a luminous dot at its base. Finally, it includes silver-tone tachymeter readings around the outer edge of the dial, which can be used for measuring time over distance. This precisely timed watch has a Swiss-made quartz movement, which is accurate to 60 seconds per year.
Other features include a sapphire glass crystal for optimal scratch resistance, screw down crown for maximum protection, and water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet)--which will stand up to the rigors of recreational scuba diving. It's completed by a black Thermoresin strap, which offers built-in UV protection and includes a fold over safety bar at the clasp for added security while participating in active pursuits.
How to Use a Tachymeter
A tachymeter is an instrument for measuring speed. It is a chronograph with a graduated dial on which speed can be read off in kilometers per hour based on 1000 meters distance. For example, the chronograph indicates that the distance of one kilometer has been covered in 30 seconds. The corresponding point on the tachymeter scale indicates 120, and thus the speed is 120km per hour.

This is my first true "luxury" watch, and I have come to really appreciate the precision and engineering that goes into a watch of this caliber. When I first handled the watch, I was really shocked how heavy it felt in my hands and on my arm. Not heavy like a cumbersome weight, but the kind of heaviness that denotes quality and durability. The design of this watch has a simple elegance that also really appeals to me. I struggled between the red face and the more classic black face, but ultimately chose the red face because I felt the black face gave the watch a somewhat generic appearance. The red is certainly more unique in my opinion and stands out more than the black. The black face, of course, will match your clothing and accessories easier than the red face will, if that sort of thing matters to you. I ultimately decided that since my watch is covered by my sleeve the majority of the time I might as well pick a color that appeals to me the most.

I really enjoy this 800 series watch. It is sturdy yet attractive! The main appeal for me is that it had traditional Movado quality but is a sporty change from the traditional Movado timepiece. The red face stands out boldly and has slight wavy designs on the inside of the face. It is rugged enough to go anywhere.
